The Night Garden by Nicole Northwood

Set in vaguely Regency Scotland where magic is commonplace, “The Night Garden” has the vibe of contemporary fiction, from the tone of the dialogue to the casual sex and drug use the heroine, Ellie, enjoys. In this case, the drug is Allure, a magical powder Ellie conjures with her sorcery skills.
She’s supposed to marry a proper gentleman after the wildness is tamed out of her at Blossom Preparatory Academy, but she wants neither the man nor his lifestyle. Her heart is stolen instead by Max, a Blossom Academy flunk-out living his daylight hours as a cat-standard punishment for Academy students who can’t be tamed. This will be Ellie’s own future if she doesn’t settle down.
💖This atmospheric and steamy romance transports the reader to the Scottish Lochs and the way everything feels heightened when the sun goes down-attraction, beauty, romance, and sometimes, fear.💖
This is Book One of the “Fairytales of the Lochs” duology. The romance through-line delivers the HEA romance readers will be looking for, and I expect that other plot lines and potential threats set up in Book One will be paid off in Book Two. Highly recommend for romance readers who enjoy losing themselves in the world between the pages.
